In August of 2007 I had what would be called "corrective violence". Surgery that left me with a big cut from my pelvic bone up to just below my belly button and in a tremendous amount of pain. Gratefully someone recommended using hypnosis. I spoke on the phone the day after my surgery with Mindy Ash, a clinical hypnotherapist. Mindy's voice is a calming presence and through the use of hypnosis Mindy was able to help me build my own sanctuary, and transport me to a place where my entire body and mind felt much more comfortable and at peace. Hypnosis is an amazingly wonderful thing, and in the hands of a good hypnotherapist it can perform "seeming" miracles. Thank you Mindy!
As a Christian with late stage cancer I understand how one might be hesitant to use medical hypnosis. But Mindy is very respectful of what you tell her and tailors each session, as well as the custom CD’s she makes to your needs. I was past the point of being able to control my pain through medication that would still allow me to drive and function. A few weeks after working with Mindy, I have reduced my medications. I have a much better control over the pain breakthroughs and my whole attitude has shifted back to being able to enjoy the time I do have left. And best of all, I can pray again, something that the pain was getting in the way of.

Scientific research has shown that clinical
hypnotherapy is an appropriate adjunct to conventional treatment. The results of
using this therapeutic tool, to eliminate pain and accelerate healing, are so
remarkable that many hospitals, physicians, dentists, and other health care
practitioners are now using it with their own
patients.
Pain Management
Many people find hypnosis can be helpful in minimizing and relieving pain, because hypnosis is a natural alternative to pain medication. The relaxed state of hypnosis helps eliminate the fear and anxiety that sometimes accompanies chronic pain.
Cancer
Hypnosis and visualization, or guided imagery, can help boost your immune system. Additionally, hypnosis can help relieve the nausea and exhaustion associated with chemotherapy.
Surgery Preparation
Recently ABC News showed an interview with a woman who used hypnosis for surgery preparation. (It can be view here.) Research has shown that people who use hypnosis in preparation for an operation have less pain, fewer complications, and a shorter recovery period. Additionally, one can feel calmer and less anxious about the surgery. Hypnosis can promote accelerated healing through therapeutic suggestions.
Accelerated Healing
Hypnosis and visualization, or guided imagery, can help boost the immune system, increasing overall wellness and recovering more quickly.
The term medical hypnotherapy is used for name recognition purposes only. It is not the practice of medicine. Persons with an ailment, or any kind of physical complaint for that matter, are to see their physician first for medical treatment, and make use of hypnosis and hypnotherapy as an adjunct to medical treatment.
